Polly’s Poster

This is Polly’s Romeo and Juliet image. It has been compressed a little when I uploaded it but you can still see how well she matched her images and her quote. The entire quote reads “Never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”

He’s a maniac

Flashdance was one of the most successful films of the early 1980s and probably one of the most parodied. If you have seen the film I am sure that you will appreciate this commercial from Kia Motors.

The image above was Sophie’s original concept to show the theme of Wilfred Owen’s poem Futility. She developed it and added text to create an interesting and effective image. Andrew also produced an image that was derived from his understanding of Futility and he too used a cross symbolically.

Comic Life

Some of you have had a play with Comic Life and are even using it to produce your digital stories. Comic Life is a tool for creating comic books by using your own images as panels. You define a layout, put images on a page, and add different text bubble designs. For example, you may choose a design to express thoughts, exclamations or whatsoever that you usually see in comics. You can also apply various filters to the images to make them look, for example, printed, hand-drawn or painted.

Go to a computer room and try it out today!

Book returns

Now that all the English exams are over it is time to hand in your textbooks. Please return all English resources to your teacher or to the office. If you find texts from years gone by, don’t be embarrassed - just hand them back in.

I found a handy little tool today called definr. Definr is a dictionary, the definitions are not in depth, but they are super fast! Click the picture to try it out for yourself.

Amazing flip book animation

A number of the Year 10 students are producing digital stories at the moment and some are making animations to use in their books. They may like to check out this amazing flip book animation, which recreates a scene from the Matrix.

The Level Two exam wasn’t too bad! The papers were easy to follow and there were really good questions for the texts we studied. I hope the exam went well and you feel happy with your efforts. All the best for the rest of your exams.
