Wuthering Heights sales quadruple thanks to Twilight effect

Sales of Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte’s classic gothic novel set on the Yorkshire moors, have quadrupled over the last year thanks to its appearance in the cult teenage film Twilight.

The Twilight books have helped to launch a whole new category of publishing – “paranormal romance” and some are trying to cash in by repackaging the classic book to appeal to fans of such novels. In Twilight the lead character Bella quotes Wuthering Heights and compares her love for the vampire Edward with Cathy’s passion for Heathcliff and this has created more demand for Emily Bronte’s great work.
