Owen has chosen an old favourite, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Read more about the book here.
For me, the book that changed my life is probably The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy because it showed me that nothing is impossible. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is about earth man Arthur Dent and his best friend Ford Prefect, as they escape from earth seconds before it is vaporised by a Vogon destructor fleet. Examples of how it shows that nothing is impossible is the way it describes how one can fly, “The basic premise of flying is throwing one’s self at the ground and missing, either by bad aim or being distracted at the very last moments.” Not only does this book make you laugh, it also makes you think. You consider the ways the world works, through hyper-descriptive writing, and odd societies that bare a strange likeness to humanity.
