Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

To be honest Shiver isn’t the sort of book that I would normally pick up but I am trying to broaden my horizons. Shiver is a paranormal romance between a girl and a werewolf and it has been a very popular read for teens and adults alike. The novel is the first in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy by American author Maggie Stiefvater.

Grace has spent years watching the wolves in the woods behind her house. She has been particularly drawn to one – a yellow-eyed wolf who, in turn has been watching her intensely. Turns out that the yellow eyed wolf is called Sam and he has lived two lives. As a wolf, he keeps the silent company of the girl he loves and then, for a short time each year, he is human. Sam and Grace must fight against the forces of nature to be together.

Many reviewers compare Shiver to Twilight, a discussion that I can’t add much to as I could not finish that book … and I twied hard! Apparently, the similarities are striking and if you are on Team Jacob you may really enjoy Shiver.

Chick Lit Teens has a more positive review that you may wish to read.
