Year 11 students are working on AS 90852 and this achievement standard involves explaining significant connection(s) across texts, using supporting evidence from at least four texts (written, visual and/or oral) that you have studied throughout the year. At least one of these texts must be selected independently; the other three may be ones that you have studied in class. You will then present the various aspects that link or connect the texts in a written form. Look at the task and exemplars that you have been given.
A good connection topic is something you understand and are interested in and want to know more about. Think about the texts that you have read and studied this year to help you brainstorm to get the best topic for your connection. As your course is organised around a theme that is a good place to start.
Remember texts may be linked by common elements such as:
- Same subject or theme, e.g. identity, coming of age, the outsider.
- same genre, e.g. dystopian.
- similar characters, e.g. heroes, villians
- similar time setting, e.g. futuristic
- similar place setting, e.g. texts set in NZ
