Blackout Poetry

black out poem copy

Year 10 have been making Blackout Poetry as part of their ‘Identity and Belonging’ work. This is a challenging and mind stretching creative process that produced some great results.

All you do is to grab a newspaper or page from an old book and decide what words that you will use in your poem. It is isn’t easy because you can’t move words or add more in. Once you have created your poem, you black out the rest of your page with a marker pen.

Here’s an example from one of our students that I think is particularly effective.
